Privacy Policy
Korea Applied Science Research Association (hereinafter "the Association") complies with the Personal Information Protection Act and related laws to protect the freedom and rights of data subjects, and processes and manages personal information legally and securely. In accordance with Article 30 of the Personal Information Protection Act, the Association establishes and discloses this Privacy Policy to inform data subjects of procedures and standards for personal information processing and to promptly and smoothly handle related grievances.
Article 1 (Purpose of Processing Personal Information)
The Association processes personal information for the following purposes. Personal information being processed will not be used for purposes other than the following, and if the purpose of use changes, necessary measures such as obtaining separate consent will be implemented in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act.
1. Membership Registration and Management
Personal information is processed for the purposes of confirming membership intention, identifying and authenticating members for member services, maintaining and managing membership qualifications, implementing limited identity verification systems, preventing unauthorized use of services, and providing various notices and notifications.
2. Research Activities Support and Academic Exchange
Personal information is processed for organizing conferences, seminars, educational programs, building research collaboration networks, and publishing and distributing academic journals.
3. Provision of Goods or Services
Personal information is processed for service provision, content provision, customized services, and identity verification.
Article 2 (Personal Information Processing and Retention Period)
The Association processes and retains personal information within the retention and use period specified by law or within the retention and use period consented to by the data subject when collecting personal information.
1. Membership Registration and Management: Until membership withdrawal
However, in the following cases, until the end of the relevant reason:
- When investigation or inquiry is ongoing due to violation of related laws, until the end of such investigation or inquiry
- When claims or debts remain from website use, until settlement of such claims or debts
Article 3 (Items of Personal Information Processed)
The Association processes the following personal information items.
1. Membership Registration and Management
Required items: User ID, Password, Name, Date of Birth, Title, Mobile Phone Number, Email, Nationality, Home Address, Affiliated Institution, Department, Position, Work Address
Optional items: Email reception consent
2. The following personal information items may be automatically generated and collected during internet service use
IP address, cookies, MAC address, service usage records, visit records, improper use records, etc.
Article 4 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)
The Association processes data subjects' personal information only within the scope specified in Article 1 (Purpose of Processing Personal Information) and provides personal information to third parties only when consent from the data subject, special provisions of law, or cases corresponding to Articles 17 and 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act apply.
Article 5 (Consignment of Personal Information Processing)
The Association consigns personal information processing tasks as follows for smooth personal information processing.
Currently no consigned tasks (Will be disclosed in this policy when consignment occurs)
Article 6 (Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Exercise Methods)
Data subjects may exercise the following personal information protection-related rights to the Association at any time.
1. Request for access to personal information
2. Request for correction in case of errors
3. Request for deletion
4. Request for suspension of processing
Article 7 (Destruction of Personal Information)
The Association destroys personal information without delay when it becomes unnecessary, such as when the retention period has expired or the processing purpose has been achieved.
Destruction Procedure
Information entered by users is moved to a separate database (separate documents in case of paper) after achieving the purpose and stored for a certain period according to internal policies and other related laws or destroyed immediately.
Destruction Method
Information in electronic file format is destroyed using technical methods that cannot reproduce records. Personal information printed on paper is destroyed by shredding or incineration.
Article 8 (Measures to Ensure Safety of Personal Information)
The Association takes the following measures to ensure the safety of personal information.
1. Administrative measures: Establishment and implementation of internal management plans, regular employee training, etc.
2. Technical measures: Access rights management for personal information processing systems, installation of access control systems, encryption of unique identification information, installation of security programs
3. Physical measures: Access control for computer rooms, data storage rooms, etc.
Article 9 (Personal Information Protection Officer)
The Association designates a Personal Information Protection Officer to oversee personal information processing and handle complaints and remedy damages related to personal information processing.
The Personal Information Protection Officer will be designated after the establishment of the Association.
Article 10 (Changes to Privacy Policy)
This Privacy Policy is effective from December 30, 2025.
