Terms of Service
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms aim to define the conditions and procedures for using all services provided by Korea Applied Science Research Association (hereinafter "the Association"), and the rights, obligations, responsibilities, and other necessary matters of users and the Association.
Article 2 (Definitions)
The definitions of terms used in these Terms are as follows:
1. "User" refers to members and non-members who access the Association's services and receive services provided by the Association in accordance with these Terms.
2. "Member" refers to a person who has registered as a member by providing personal information to the Association, continuously receives information from the Association, and can continuously use services provided by the Association.
3. "Non-member" refers to a person who uses services provided by the Association without joining as a member.
4. "ID" means a combination of letters and numbers that a member sets and the Association approves for member identification and service use.
5. "Password" means a combination of letters or numbers set by the member to confirm that they are the member matching the assigned ID and for confidential protection.
Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of Terms)
1. These Terms take effect for all users who wish to use the services.
2. The contents of these Terms are posted on the service screen or notified by other means, and take effect when users who consent to them join the service.
3. The Association may amend these Terms when deemed necessary, and when the Association amends the Terms, it will specify the effective date and reasons for amendment and announce them on the service initial screen along with the current Terms from 7 days before the effective date until the day before the effective date.
Article 4 (Membership Registration)
1. Membership registration is concluded when the user consents to the contents of the Terms, applies for membership registration, and the Association approves such application.
2. The membership application form must include the following information:
- User ID
- Password
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Title
- Mobile Phone Number
- Email
- Nationality
- Home Address
- Affiliated Institution
- Department
- Position
- Work Address
3. The Association may not approve membership applications that fall under any of the following:
- When applying under a name that is not real or using another person's name
- When falsely filling in the contents of the membership application
- When applying for the purpose of disturbing social order or public morals
- When other application requirements set by the Association are not met
Article 5 (Provision and Change of Services)
1. The Association provides members with the following services:
- Academic event information and participation services such as conferences, seminars, and workshops
- Research collaboration network building and information sharing services
- Academic journal and research material browsing services
- Educational program information and application services
- Other tasks determined by the Association
2. The Association may change the content of services when necessary, and in this case, will immediately announce the changed service content and provision date where the current service content is posted.
Article 6 (Service Interruption)
1. The Association may temporarily suspend the provision of services in case of maintenance, replacement, breakdown of information and communication equipment such as computers, or communication interruption.
2. The Association is not liable for damages suffered by users or third parties due to temporary suspension of service provision for the reasons in paragraph 1. However, this does not apply when the Association has intent or gross negligence.
Article 7 (Member Obligations)
1. Members must not engage in the following acts in connection with service use:
- Stealing others' information
- Changing information posted by the Association
- Transmitting or posting information other than information designated by the Association (such as computer programs)
- Infringing on the copyright and other intellectual property rights of the Association and other third parties
- Acts that damage the reputation or interfere with the business of the Association and other third parties
- Publishing or posting obscene or violent messages, images, voices, or other information contrary to public order and morals on the service
2. Members must comply with relevant laws and regulations, provisions of these Terms, usage guidelines and precautions announced in connection with services, and matters notified by the Association, and must not engage in other acts that interfere with the Association's business.
Article 8 (Member's Obligation to Manage ID and Password)
1. Responsibility for managing members' IDs and passwords lies with the member, and they must not allow third parties to use them.
2. The Association may restrict the use of an ID if there is a risk of personal information leakage, if it is antisocial or contrary to public morals, or if there is a risk of confusion with the Association or the Association's operators.
3. If a member recognizes that their ID and password have been stolen or are being used by a third party, they must immediately notify the Association and follow the Association's guidance.
Article 9 (Protection of User's Personal Information)
The Association strives to protect users' personal information as prescribed by relevant laws and regulations. The protection of users' personal information is governed by relevant laws and the "Privacy Policy" established by the Association.
Article 10 (Association's Obligations)
1. The Association does not engage in acts prohibited by relevant laws and these Terms or contrary to public morals, and makes every effort to provide services continuously and stably.
2. The Association must have a security system to protect personal information (including credit information) so that users can use services safely, and must announce and comply with the Privacy Policy.
3. The Association must handle opinions or complaints raised by users in connection with service use if deemed legitimate. Processing progress and results will be communicated to users through bulletin boards or email for opinions or complaints raised by users.
Article 11 (Attribution and Restriction of Use of Copyright)
1. Copyright and other intellectual property rights for works created by the Association belong to the Association.
2. Users must not use information obtained through using services provided by the Association, to which the Association has intellectual property rights, for commercial purposes by reproduction, transmission, publication, distribution, broadcasting, or other methods, or allow third parties to use it without prior consent from the Association.
3. The Association must notify the relevant user when using copyrights attributed to users according to agreement.
Article 12 (Dispute Resolution)
1. The Association establishes and operates a damage compensation processing organization to reflect legitimate opinions or complaints raised by users and compensate for damages.
2. The Association prioritizes processing complaints and opinions submitted by users. However, if prompt processing is difficult, the reason and processing schedule will be immediately notified to users.
3. Disputes between the Association and users may follow the mediation of the Electronic Transaction Dispute Mediation Committee established under Article 28 of the Framework Act on Electronic Transactions and Article 15 of its Enforcement Decree.
Article 13 (Jurisdiction and Governing Law)
1. Korean law applies to disputes arising between the Association and users regarding service use.
2. Lawsuits regarding disputes between the Association and users shall be filed with the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
